2006: Dear Ayala Bar, My “invitation” necklaces

Dear Ayala Bar,

My collection of your beautiful necklaces started in an airport shop over ten years ago.  I fell in love with the beautiful designs, weightless materials that were easy to wear and travel with and your story.  Overtime, your pieces went far beyond my love of clothes and became a treasured way of inviting and enjoying the many remarkable women in my life.

You see, it brought me great joy to twist the notion if a “statement” necklace to an “invitation” necklace.  In my work and travels, I was lucky to meet amazing people who would often comment on my own Ayala Bar pieces.  In instances where I hoped to continue the conversation, get to know them better or support them in some way, I have often sent them an Ayala Bar treasure of their own as an “invitation”.

I know you were partly inspired by the amazing story of your 104-year-old grandmother who carried your father most of the 2000 miles from Afghanistan to your home in Israel.  I just wanted you to know that her story and yours have enriched my life’s journey far beyond the beauty of a treasured piece of jewelry.

Gratefully,

Ann Simonds
