2018: Dear Albert Kriemler, My mom simply adored your dress

Dear Mr. Kriemler,

My Mom loved and collected Alexander Girard pieces- specifically his wooden dolls which were dotted around her home.  Mom was from Michigan and worked at the Museum of Modern Art in the late 1940’s so I think she fell in love with his work in both places and may have even had occasion to meet him.

During the summer of 2018, our family gathered for a family wedding.  This was the last time my Mom would travel and attend such an occasion during her 96-year life.  I was so surprised and delighted to see your unique and impactful dress collection for Akris inspired by Mr. Girard.

It was a joy to escort her wearing such a lovely dress.  I simply wanted you to know that your visionary and impeccably made piece ended up on a special and meaningful mission.  It remains in my closet and brings such a lovely memory every time I have worn it since.

Gratefully,

Ann Simonds
